Crime Solvers Seeks Robbery Suspect Using Stolen Credit Cards

Fairfax County Crime Solvers is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the man responsible for robbing a woman and later using her credit cards. On Wednesday, July 14 around 4:05 p.m. a 61-year-old woman exited her car in the 1700 block of Macon Street in the McLean area. A man approached the woman and attempted to grab her purse. After a brief struggle, he took the purse and fled.

Later that same day, the suspect used the victim’s credit card to make several fraudulent purchases at stores in the area. Store surveillance video captured that suspect using the credit card at a store in the 7000 block of Columbia Pike.

Further investigation determined this same suspect may be responsible for a similar incident in the City of Alexandria:  http://alexandriava.gov/police/info/news_policedisplay.aspx?id=35932

Detectives are hopeful someone will recognize the man in these pictures. The suspect is described as white, 30 to 40 years old. He is about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build. He is bald and has a light-colored goatee.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Fairfax County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS / 1-866-411-8477, e-mail on www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org site or text “TIP187” plus your message to CRIMES(274637).  A $100 to $1,000 cash reward will be paid for information that leads to an arrest.
